Climate Justice Now! South Africa (Gauteng Chapter), Earthlife Africa Jhb and Well Worn Theatre invites all to join in a week of activism on Climate Change from the 7th till the 12th Dec 2009.
On the 12th of December 2009, South Africa will join with thousands upon thousands of voices to call for Climate Justice Now!
The Global Day of Action has occurred every year since 2005 and usually happens on the Saturday mid-way through the United Nations Talks on climate change (the COP or “Conference of Parties” to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change or UNFCCC). This year will be no different.
JOIN US AND TAKE PART IN THE ACTION!! THE PLANET NEEDS YOU!!!!
In fact, this year, as the Copenhagen Climate Talks are potentially the world’s last chance to secure an emissions reductions agreement that will replace the Kyoto Protocol before it expires, the voices on the street will be louder than ever before.
Climate Justice Now! South Africa (Gauteng Chapter) and Earthlife Africa Jhb supported by Well Worn Theatre are organizing a week of activism and protest from the 7th to the 12th of December.
There will be film and documentary screenings from Soweto to Observatory followed by discussions and movement building for the GDA on the 12th. A Die-In will be held outside SASOL plant at Sasolburg on the 9th December. The week’s activities will culminate in a rally, jaw-dropping street theatre and a major Die-In outside the Gauteng Legislature Rissik Street Johannesburg on the 12th December.
Johannesburg is joining the cry for Climate Justice Now!
